Hi, my name is Bassem, and I am a victim simply because I am Palestinian. I’ve lived through seven wars, but this one—it feels like the end. This is genocide. They have stolen everything from me—my freedom, my breath, my voice. They’ve taken my friends, my family, my food, my water. They’ve taken my right to exist, simply because I am Palestinian.

I can’t describe the pain of watching everything I love disappear, while the world turns away. I’m reaching out to you, not just for me, but for all of us trapped in Gaza. Every day, the air grows thicker with smoke and death, and the walls around us close in tighter.

I need you to stand with me, to help me fight for my life. We are being erased. The situation here gets worse by the hour, and I don’t know how much longer we have. I’m sending you this message because you are my last hope to escape this nightmare. Please don’t turn away!

Reflecting on a Year of Loss In 2025, Bassem’s family lost more than anyone should have to bear. They lost their home, and most tragically, they lost Bassem's brother, Omar, who was killed at an aid station while simply trying to get food for the family.

Despite losing their shelter and their loved ones, they haven’t lost their love, their hope, or their perseverance. But hope alone cannot keep them warm or fed. Food and resources remain incredibly scarce, and they are currently facing the elements without a roof over their heads.
